Kosovo and the Balkans

  • Develop and implement of Community Facilitators Project and related community conflict resolution initiatives in Kosovo, beginning with one Community Facilitation Center in June 2000 and expanding to three centers by spring 2001.
  • Expand Community Facilitators into other parts of the Balkans, such as Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, and Albania by 2002.
  • Begin broad-based, country-wide Citizens' Peace Dialogues. These would take place between diverse social and political forces on the citizens level. The dialogues would explore important historical, psychological and social issues from all perspectives, offer practical solutions, and build consensus around a peaceful vision of the future.
  • Explore opportunities for implementation of programs such as generic citizen peacebuilder training, peer mediation, and culture of peace curriculums.

World-wide

  • Explore opportunities for Community Facilitators and People Connection projects and services in other areas of the world, such as Africa, Asia, Latin America, and other parts of Eastern Europe. Specific regions include Kosovo, Chiapas, and the Middle East.
  • Develop and begin implementation of the following initiatives:
    • Generic training for peacebuilders, applicable in most pre- and post-conflict societies in the world.
    • Crisis intervention and long-term peace teams
    • Military / civilian cross-cultural awareness, cooperation, and coordination through training, as well as strategic planning and field implementation of joint projects, including a "Peace Army."

  • Establish CRC branches and affiliates outside the United States.

North America

  • Develop ideas and structures for conflict resolution services in common informal community institutions where people congregate (such as pubs, libraries, general stores, gas stations, etc).
  • Develop conflict resolution activist network, with ongoing think tank, to generate and implement opportunities for both those experienced in the field and those just starting. Begin in local and regional areas near CRC main headquarters.
  • Sponsor and present educational events and workshops at community and professional settings (such as conferences, schools, civic organizations, religious institutions) to promote public awareness and participation in conflict resolution / citizen peacebuilding. Topics include:
    • Peacemaking and Practical Living
    • Changing The Funding Paradigm
    • Civilian-Military Cooperation
    • Citizen Peace Teams
    • Culture of Peace

  • Expand CRC membership network through publicity and volunteer outreach to the general public.
  • Expand Board of Directors to a minimum of seven members, and establish an executive leadership. Board members should be influential in their community and/or represent relevant fields, such as conflict resolution, business, legal, etc.
  • Expand funding base through donor cultivation campaigns, matching funds, endowment programs, long-term foundation or gov't support, and benefit gatherings.
  • Hire full or part-time development person.
