| Working in a major hot spot like Kosovo is never easy for a relatively small organization like Conflict Resolution Catalysts, and that's especially true with a huge goal like empowering the citizens of Kosovo to move beyond hatred and vengeance to build and sustain peaceful communities. The answer to increasing CRC's effectiveness is a strong foundation of support. There are several ways you can help Conflict Resolution Catalysts. Fundraising: (back to top)
CRC has largely been funded from private sources - primarily foundation grants and individual donations. Several seed and sustaining grants from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation since 1995 provided major support for CRC's projects in Bosnia. Mott funding also helped build and sustain the organizational infrastructure to enable CRC to manage these projects and develop new initiatives in line with our mission. Since 1996, specific projects have also received funding from international and governmental agencies, and public institutions. These included UNHCR, Catholic Relief Services, US AID, US Institute of Peace, and the Pearson Peacekeeping Centre. While CRC now has a likely funding partner to support the Community Facilitators Project, we are still looking for the resources to be more self-sufficient and financially resilient. This will enable CRC to develop and implement a diverse array of programs, both local and international, and provide long-term support and stability for basic organizational expenses, such as office overhead and modest salaries. There have been many opportunities in the past where our special skills could have contributed a lot, but we just didnÕt have the money to get involved. As our work in Kosovo progresses, there will doubtless be other related projects and needs, where having one extra staff person for a few months, or the funds to purchase equipment, will make the difference between a barely-making-it program and a spectacularly successful one. Thus, CRC continues to seek new sources of support, from private and public funding, as well as partnership arrangements with kindred organizations to share resources. CRC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Contributions to CRC are tax-deductible under US federal law. Donations can be made by check to Conflict Resolution Catalysts
Networking (back to top)
CRC is greatly interested in forging relationships with kindred organizations and individuals to share information, techniques and suggestions for greater effectiveness in accomplishing our mission. CRC seeks leads and contacts with other peacebuilding organizations around the world. We also want to connect with grassroots groups already at work in Kosovo and dynamic community leaders, as well as learn about specific community problems that need to be addressed, and approaches which have (and have not) worked well for other organizations. In return, CRC has a wealth of experience and resources to offer in conflict resolution training for organizations, community outreach, and innovative solutions to difficult problems. If you have something to contribute to a cooperative effort in conflict resolution or mediation work, please contact CRC.
